The Elephant Birth

This is a fantastic story and film about one special elephant birth. A bit long, about 6 minutes, but is worth every second. The awesomeness of life.

Caution: This may be too graphic for young children.

Jessica the Hippo - An Update

Jessica Update.

This is an update to my first Jessica clip. Notice how careful the videographer has to be around Jessica, and how relaxed she is with her family.

The Tired Dog Joke

Here is the obligatory joke for the new year:

An old, tired-looking dog wandered into my yard; I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home and was well taken care of.

He calmly came over to me, I gave him a few pats on his head; he then followed me into my house, slowly walked down the hall, curled up in the corner and fell asleep.

An hour later, he went to the door, asked to leave, and I let him out.

The next day he was back, greeted me in my yard, walked inside and resumed his spot in the hall and again slept for about an hour. This continued off and on for several weeks.

I was curious. I pinned a note to his collar: 'I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is and want to know if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.'

The next day he arrived for his nap, with a new note pinned to his collar: 'He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3 - he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?

Pug Going for a Stroll with Her Stroller

Jenny lives in Portland OR. She is happy, well adjusted, and highly intelligent. Her owners gently trained her to push the toy stroller. Jenny quickly learned, she liked it and took complete control of the stroller, her little puglets.

This is the cutest, cleverest, pet. If you like what you see, and want to see more, make sure to check the site dedicated to Jenny.

The Bear and the Cougar

This clip about a little bear cub being chased by a mountain cougar. A sweet film from 1988. Well, maybe not so sweet, it keeps you on the edge of your seat, but the sound effects are amuzing. Enjoy.

The Donkey in the Bar

This story comes from Kwa-Zulu Natal South Coast in South Africa.

Peter Weber rescued this darling donkey named Huckleberry and allows the friendly, sociable animal to mingle with the patrons who visit the bar he owns.

Huckleberry greets and socializes with the patrons. No. He does not drink.

The Baboon and The Chicken

If you ever wonder why a baboon would adopt a chicken, the answer is he is at a zoo which does not provide much enrichment. (The zoo I volunteered at provides lots of enrichment to all kinds of species.)

Baboons live in packs and need a lot more interaction than just a few branches.

The story here is that this chick escaped and found herself with Mitis the baboon. The happy ending is that Mitis has a friend and someone to care for, and the chicken was saved, as she was supposed to become food for the animals. This is a private zoo in Lithuania.

The baboon is very gentle with the chicken who enjoys being groomed, and completely relaxed as her eyes are gently closing.
